BEHIND THE LENS AND ON THE PAGE

Clark Savage’s perspective as an author was forged through thirty-five years as a professional portrait photographer, studio owner, and conservation advocate. In portraiture, technical precision is only the foundation; the true art lies in emotional resonance, capturing a subject’s narrative through expression, posture, and gaze. That same commitment to emotional truth drives his fiction: if a scene doesn't move him while writing, it won't move the reader.

 

Clark’s family roots run deep in Idaho. Growing up on both coasts, Texas, and Illinois, annual summer trips to the family farm in Idaho proved transformative. Shadowing his uncle, a large-animal veterinarian in Blackfoot, on ranch calls and emergency visits sparked a lifelong fascination with veterinary medicine and an abiding respect for the animal kingdom.

 

ON THE FRONTLINE

With wildlife populations facing critical threats worldwide, Clark’s channels his storytelling into full-time animal advocacy and action-driven fiction. After completing his debut upmarket thriller, Tapestry, he dedicates his platform to championing endangered species and raising support for the frontline rangers and wildlife veterinarians protecting them.

 

LIFE IN THE USA

Beyond the camera and the keyboard, Clark serves as an active leader in the Rotary Club. He lives with his wife and a 175-pound English Mastiff who, despite contributing nothing toward the mortgage, remains entirely convinced she owns the house.
